MacDonald has been with the HP business since 2011. He was the vendor’s consumer director for the UK and Ireland for almost five years before taking a new role in March 2020 as EU head of excellence for marketplaces and Amazon.
He will begin the new role today.
MacDonald will be responsible for go-to-market strategy and sales performance for HP’s print, personal systems, services and solutions business across the region, as well as leading the commercial, consumer and distribution sales teams along with the relationships with HP’s channel partners.
Writing on his Linkedin page, MacDonald said:”Having previously led the consumer and distribution business, I am delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with those valued partners as well as to develop successful new relationships with those in the commercial arena. As I reflect on the last two years, I have learnt an immense amount from my experience leading the EU market places business and I sincerely thank the EU team for their dedication as they delivered the successful outcomes from our plan.
“This new role represents a great opportunity to bring that digital knowledge to fuel the growth potential from our partnerships, products and services in the UK&I. We have seen a tremendous amount of change in the past 18 months, for obvious reasons, however now more than ever we have greater ambition and optimism for the future.”
MacDonald takes over from Neil Sawyer, who left HP towards the end of last year to take a new job as general manager for the UK and Ireland of competitor Lenovo.
Sawyer had run HP’s UK and Ireland channel business since 2015.
